BTEC Higher National Diploma in International Hotel Management
London is a world capital, the biggest city in Europe and a major business
and tourist destination. While it is the capital of Britain you will feel comfortable
here whatever your nationality or religion as it is one of the cosmopolitan cities in the
world. London has a reputation for safety and tolerance that few other cities can match.
It is famous for its hotels, museums, theatres, shopping and entertainment. Most international
hotel chains have at least one hotel in London, many have several.
London Hotel School was founded in 1995, as the UK’s only dedicated college teaching hospitality
management. London Hotel School has a philosophy of working closely with the hotel industry and
producing students who fit their needs. While academic study is important they believe that good
interpersonal skills and operational knowledge are equally important contributors to student success
and so focus strongly on developing these skills.
London Hotel School is located in central London and the location makes it easy to have close
links with many of the top UK hotels. Students are encouraged and helped to get part-time work experience
in the hospitality business while they study the theory of their courses and to use London as a
learning resource. The school operates in high specification premises to reflect the working conditions in
the four and five star hotels the students will eventually work in, and the teaching style is professional
but informal. Students have to meet high standards of performance and behavior and are encouraged to
manage their own learning and development. Lecturing staff all have appropriate academic qualifications
and also industry experience at management level, and support staff are available to assist with all
non academic student needs.
